Overview

We have a special seminar where two prominent professors at Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées from France are invited to make presentations on infrastructure finance and innovation management together with presentations by two professors at The University of Tokyo from Japan. Anybody who is interested in the topics can join this seminar. You are cordially invited to this precious opportunity.


Bios of Presenters

Professor Michel LYONNET du MOUTIER
Michel Lyonnet du Moutier is Professor at Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées and Professor Emeritus at University of Paris–Nanterre. He created the “Infrastructure Project Finance” Master Program in 2002 (250 alumni all over the world). He regularly teaches Project Finance in executive programs for banks and industrial operators. He has written a doctoral thesis, several books and published many papers about Project Finance and PPP. He was also appointed as “qualified person” by the French Ministry of Equipment in several Selection Committees for PPP High Speed Lines, within SNCF-Réseau. He is an independent expert to the European Commission. Earlier, he spent 20 years with several large construction companies as Financial Director, most recently with Eiffage. In this last company, as Infrastructure Project Finance Director, Michel participated in Eiffage’s successful bid for the Millau Viaduct and led the successful negotiation of a €750 million financial package for a motorway in Portugal. Previously, he has been seconded as CEO of the €2 billion "Duplex A 86" tunnel project (West of Paris), during the design phase. Michel Lyonnet du Moutier received a PhD in Finance from the University of Orléans (AFFI-FNEGE Prize for the best thesis in Finance, at national level, in 2002); a MBA from INSEAD; a Master in Civil Engineering (Ingénieur ESTP); a Master in Economics (University of Paris 1 –La Sorbonne).

Professor Dominique JACQUET
Dominique JACQUET is Professor of Financial Strategy at Ecole des Ponts ParisTech (since 2001) and head of the Economics & Finance department (since 2012).He also teaches at CEDEP (since 1990, professor of corporate finance and company fellow) and is a Visiting Professor at HEC Montréal (starting 2013).Civil Engineer ENPC (1978), MBA INSEAD (1981), PhD in Management (1987) (Management of Innovation).Business Experience: 8 years in various multinational corporations as Internal Management Consultant (Eastman Kodak, French operations), Financial Controller then Treasurer (Xerox in France) and CFO (commercial real estate development, George V Industries, Arnault Group).
Research interests:
Relationship between business and finance: how business shapes financial performance evaluation, corporate value and strategy, application to various sectors, such as food, cosmetics, distribution, car and auto-supply, soft drinks and telecoms.
Resource allocation, valuation of flexibility and decision-making in uncertain environments (real options, capital budgeting, evaluation of strategies and business units in high-tech and fast-moving environments).

Professor Gento MOGI
Dr. Mogi is an Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo since 1994. He graduated the School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo in 1982. After three years of experience as mining engineer and petroleum engineer, he joined the University of Tokyo as a research associate in 1985.He spent one year at the Luleå University in Sweden as a guest researcher during 1992 to 1993. He is a joint-chair of the Presidential Endowed Chair for Global Solar plus Initiative since 2010 as well as a joint-chair of the Endowed Chair for Global Consumer Intelligence since 2015. He is an author of more than 120 articles in a variety of fields such as socio-strategic engineering, energy economics, real option analysis, and risk management. He is also an author of several Japanese books such as "Structure of oil business, the pictorial", "The future of oil and options for Japan", "The future of energy", etc.

Professor Hironori KATO
Dr. Hironori Kato is a full professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, The University of Tokyo since 2013. He is also currently serving as a co-director of the Program for Master in Infrastructure Engineering, Vietnam Japan University (VJU) at Hanoi since September 2016. His main research/teaching concerns are transportation planning and policy, transportation economics, transportation finance, and travel behavioral analysis. He has contributed to over 100 advisory/research committees of the central and local governments in Japan as a policy advisor, such as Special Member of the Council for Transport Policy (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Japan) and Special Member of the Council for Policy Evaluation (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Japan). He has also worked for international development projects as a technical advisor to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). He has experienced many projects organized by international institutions such as Asian Development Bank (ADB), Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN), and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
